Reel Big Fish Still Rock

I went to a show at Peoples in Downtown Des Moines and had great time. It was headlined by Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. They had two bands open for them but I only saw one Lionize. Lionize was pretty good but they are in love with the reverb and it was a little too distorted for my liking. I would pick up there stuff if you see it cheap though their lead singer goes all out live. Streetlight Manifesto played for almost two hours non-stop and played a hell of a show. I was surprised I knew more of their stuff than I thought but I think they still play quite a bit of Catch 22 stuff and I have all the Catch 22 albums. They were really rocking it and the place was packed. I would pay to see them again, they put on a good show. I have been a Reel Big Fish fan since the mid 90's so I am probably a bit biased but they were awesome. You can tell they have been doing it a long time but they still seem to be enjoying themselves up there. I saw them in like 1998 with Atomic Fireballs and I think last nights show was better and that was one of my favorite concerts ever. Peoples is a very contained space and being on the third floor it felt like the whole floor was shaking during the show. I was surprised actually how many people were there because it wasn't marketed as much as some shows around here are. All in all it was a great night of music and I had a blast!
K Out!
